Q & A
  • Why did you choose your major?
I considered enrolling in the massage therapy program for several years. I actually applied to attend the college for massage therapy four times before finally enrolling in the program. It was never the right time before but I kept coming back to it. I started my health journey in nursing and am a graduate of ACM’s Nursing program. I furthered my education at Waynesboro College earning my bachelor’s degree in nursing. A few years ago I injured my shoulder. It was this injury that made me realize I needed to take better care of myself. I studied to become a personal trainer and am currently training clients part-time as well a home health nurse part-time. I want to combine my knowledge and skills with massage techniques to help others through preventive care.
  • What made you choose Allegany College of Maryland?
ACM is an awesome school! ACM is a local, affordable option that provides students with an excellent education. Students are well prepared when they finished at ACM. The career programs prepare students for the workforce allowing them to learn hands-on, valuable skills. ACM faculty and staff are also very encouraging. The College is a very positive atmosphere.
  • How has your experience been at ACM?
My experience at ACM has been fabulous!

  • Why would you recommend Allegany College of Maryland to future students?
It doesn’t matter who you are – age, background – when you step through the door. ACM will help guide you onto the right path. I’m 48 years old and enrolling in college for my third time. There are no limits with ACM. ACM takes away the boundaries.

  • Now that you’ve been through the college process, what advice would you give yourself if you could go back and do this again?
Stay organized – find a system that works best for you and stay with it.
It also help to attend college when the time is right for you!
  • Additional Comments:

Massage is so much more than giving someone a back rub. It’s an exciting field that our world is just starting to tap into. There is a lot of science and research involved in massage.

The massage therapy instructors are fantastic! They love what they do and their passionate and excitement translates through to the students.
