Q & A
  • Why did you choose this major?
I’ve always loved baking, but I also wanted to know how the business works and how I could one day own my own bakery, which is why a double major was such a good choice for me.
  • What made you choose Allegany College of Maryland?
My mom went to ACM when I was in high school, she actually went to the Culinary Café for nutrition, so she told me how amazing it was here.
  • How has your experience been at ACM?
My experience has been amazing, I started off with online classes going after a business degree, which was great, but not exactly what I wanted and with the help of my English teacher and advisor I decided to change majors and even double major. Once I changed my major and stared to attend the Culinary Café I had felt so complete in my choice and determined to learn everything I possibly could, and with the help of Deb Swope that’s exactly what I did. And now I’m leaving with two associate degrees and so much knowledge about everything from baking to the real life business knowledge.

  • Why would you recommend Allegany College of Maryland to future students?
I would recommend ACM to everyone because of the dedication the faculty has to their students. I have always had the help I need from all of my instructors.
  • Now that you’ve been through the college process, what advice would you give yourself if you could go back and do this again?
I would tell myself that you’re not alone and there are a lot of people there backing you up.
  • What is your plans post college?
I hope to eventually go on and get my bachelor’s degree and to one day become a baking instructor.
  • Give me one word that best describes your experience at Allegany College of Maryland?
    Life-changing
