CUMBERLAND, Md.—May 28, 2024— Allegany College of Maryland is accepting applications for its 2024 cohort of weekend hybrid nursing students. Applicants must take the HESI entrance exam by July 15 and apply for program admission by June 30. Classes begin in August. The program is limited to 40 nursing students.

Program entry requires the competition of 10 specific general education courses among its other requirements. A list of those requirements and more information is available online at www.allegany.edu/nursing/weekend-hybrid.

The program is designed to be flexible.
This program blends in-person and online instruction. Students can expect to commit at least 12 hours per week to their classes, labs, and clinical hours.

Students learn on their own time during the week. The online nursing courses are asynchronous with an occasional synchronous (scheduled) meeting. Faculty instructors offer virtual office hours for students who need help. Online tutoring in nursing is also offered by appointment through www.thinkingstorm.com/acm

In-person skills and labs/clinical hours clinical hours are held every Saturday during the semester. The in-person skills and lab instruction are held at ACM’s Cumberland Campus, and those hours vary by instructor. Clinical hours are performed at UPMC Western Maryland in 12-hour shifts that begin at 7 a.m.

Allegany College of Maryland’s nursing program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing and the Maryland and Pennsylvania boards of nursing. The weekend hybrid program is for students without prior nursing experience who want to become a registered nurse or RN.
