CUMBERLAND, Md. (updated Feb 28, 2024)–Allegany College of Maryland encourages current and prospective students to complete their 2024-25 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) by Maryland’s new priority deadline to maximize their financial aid. Maryland's priority deadline is now May 15.
The application is available at www.studentaid.gov/apply-for-aid/fafsa and ACM’s federal school code is 002057.
FAFSA’s 2023 overhaul helps more students.
The college recommends that all students apply for federal financial aid using the 2024-25 FAFSA, even if they doubt their eligibility or they haven’t received aid in the past. The FAFSA’s income brackets were expanded for Pell Grants and other forms of assistance to enable more students may receive aid. The U.S. Department of Education will make an additional $1.8 billion of federal aid available as part of remedy for its formula for calculating financial aid.

ACM uses the FAFSA to help students find money for college in the form of federal grants, state-specific scholarships, work-study jobs on campus, and student loans. ACM financial aid experts can help students better understand their financial aid options, answer their FAFSA questions, and even offer advice for budgeting college costs.

Parents of dependent students can reach out for help.
Financial aid staff are available to help parents of dependent students navigate their part of the FAFSA process. Parents will need to create or use their own Federal Student Aid ID to complete their child’s FAFSA.
Allegany College of Maryland’s Student Financial Aid Office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and located in the College Center.
