Summer Commencement

Graduation applications must be completed by any student wishing to receive a degree or certificate in August 2022.

The date for Summer graduation is Friday, August 5, 2022, but please note: There is no Summer ceremony, but all graduates from the Summer 2022 semester will be invited to participate in the December 2022 commencement ceremony at the Cumberland Campus on Friday, December 16, 2022.

The Summer 2022 graduation application deadline was Wednesday, June 1, 2022.
A $100 late fee will be assessed for each application received after June 1, 2022.
No late applications will be accepted after June 30, 2022.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

A student must:

  • complete all academic requirements as stated in year of entry catalog or current year catalog
  • complete a minimum 60 credits for an associate degree
  • complete a minimum 25% of required credits at ACM
  • attain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher

No student may graduate with an incomplete grade(s).


APPLYING FOR GRADUATION

It is strongly recommended that students utilize WebAdvisor and run a program evaluation and/or meet with an academic advisor to review program requirements for completion.

All students are expected to complete an application for graduation, regardless of participation in the commencement ceremony. All students are expected to complete a separate application for each degree or certificate.

Students that attended other colleges or universities and wish to transfer credit must official transcript(s) sent to ACM’s Admissions Office.

COMMENCEMENT CEREMONIES

All graduates encouraged to attend the commencement ceremony. Only students eligible for degree(s) or certificate(s) are permitted to participate in commencement ceremony.

Ceremony details will be sent to the students’ ACM email account when the details are released by Commencement Committee.

All Summer graduates will be invited to participate in Fall ceremony in Cumberland. Commencement ceremonies are held in Cumberland in the gymnasium.


DISABILITY-RELATED SERVICES

Allegany College of Maryland is committed to providing access to people with disabilities. Please note that the College does not provide wheelchairs, scooters, or other mobility devices; however, we can reserve special seating areas for guests and visitors with mobility impairments who bring their own mobility devices. Requests for an interpreter for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing need to be received at least two weeks before the graduation ceremony.

Rehearsal – when applicable will be sent to the students’ ACM email account.

Cap & Gowns – Information regarding picking up caps and gowns will be emailed to the students’ ACM email account.

Announcements – available to be picked up with Caps & Gowns.

Speakers – qualified applicants will be invited to audition to speak at the commencement ceremony. Invitations will be emailed to your ACM student email address.


HONORS

Members of Phi Theta Kappa should contact advisor Melody Gaschler for regalia.

Graduates with cumulative GPAs as follows will be recognized at the commencement ceremony:

  • 3.80 - 4.00 summa cum laude (with highest honors)
  • 3.51 - 3.79 magna cum laude (with high honors)
  • 3.30 - 3.50 cum laude (with honors)

 


DIPLOMAS AND TRANSCRIPTS

Students receive diploma cover as they walk across the stage. After ceremony, students will be able to pick up diploma. Picture ID required when picking up the diploma.

For students not attending commencement ceremony, diplomas will be available in Associate Registrar’s Office from 8:30 – 4:30 during the week after ceremony date.

Diplomas not picked up the week after the ceremony will be mailed to the address on the student’s graduation application.

  • Please remember to clear all outstanding obligations (from Business Office, Financial Aid exit interview, Willowbrook Woods, Library) to get diploma.
