Summer Commencement

Graduation applications must be completed by any student wishing to receive a degree or certificate in August of 2025. An application must be completed for each degree/certificate/letter of recognition that the student intends to earn.

The date for summer graduation is Wednesday, August 6, 2025. However we do not have a ceremony in the summer.

The Summer 2025 graduation application deadline is June 13, 2025.

A late graduation application is available from June 16-July 3, 2025. The $100 late fee will be due with the applications during this time.

No late applications will be accepted after July 4, 2025.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

A student must:

  • complete all academic requirements as stated in year of entry catalog or current year catalog
  • complete a minimum 60 credits for an associate degree
  • complete a minimum 25% of required credits at ACM
  • attain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher

No student may graduate with an incomplete grade(s).

 


APPLYING FOR GRADUATION

It is strongly recommended that students utilize Self-Service and run a program evaluation and/or meet with an academic advisor to review program requirements for completion.

All students are expected to complete an application for graduation, regardless of participation in the commencement ceremony. All students are expected to complete a separate application for each degree or certificate.

Students that attended other colleges or universities and wish to transfer credit must have official transcript(s) sent to ACM’s Admissions Office.

DISABILITY-RELATED SERVICES

Allegany College of Maryland is committed to providing access to people with disabilities. Please contact Academic Access Disability Resources Office at (301)784-5234 or e-mail adr@allegany.edu to request any special accommodation required for you or your guests to attend the graduation ceremony. Please note that the College does not provide wheelchairs, scooters, or other mobility devices; however, we can reserve special seating areas for guests and visitors with mobility impairments who bring their own mobility devices. Requests for an interpreter for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing need to be received at least two weeks before the graduation ceremony.

 


HONORS

Members of Phi Theta Kappa should contact advisor Melody Gaschler for regalia.

Graduates with cumulative GPAs as follows will be recognized at the commencement ceremony:

  • 3.80 - 4.00 summa cum laude (with highest honors)
  • 3.51 - 3.79 magna cum laude (with high honors)
  • 3.30 - 3.50 cum laude (with honors)

 


DIPLOMAS AND TRANSCRIPTS

Diplomas are not available prior to the commencement ceremony. Please bring photo ID with you when you come in to pick up your diploma. Students who have not picked up their diplomas will receive them in the mail.  Diplomas are mailed to the address that students provide on the application to graduate.  Please note that it will take about two weeks after we mail the diploma for it to arrive at your address.

Students must have fulfilled ALL their financial obligations to the College before diplomas are released.  Please contact the Business and Financial Aid offices in order to ensure you have met all your financial obligations/exit counseling requirements so, your diploma is not held back from the ceremony.

Transcripts requests with graduation credentials (graduation date and honors status) will be posted to transcripts by the end of business on August 6, 2025.   If you are requesting a transcript and need your degree information on that transcript, please request that the transcript be held until after graduation credentials are posted.
