ACM’s award-winning student literary magazine, Expressions, celebrates the creativity in all of us through its compilation of original essays, poems, prose, drawings, paintings, prints, and sculptures.

As a student, it offers you the chance to share your unique perspective and talent with a regional and national audience. Whether you submit an essay, poetry, drawing, print, sculpture or painting, you’re part of a literary magazine process with deep roots.

In years past, Expressions has been submitted to the Eastern Division of the Community College Humanities Association (CCHA ) to be judged as part of its national literary magazine competition. ACM competes in CCHA’s Eastern Division, which extends from Maryland and the District of Columbia north to Maine and includes Puerto Rico, and has had the esteemed honor of winning the National Award in 2022, along with placing second in its division in 2017, third in 2016, and first in 2014.

Expressions is edited by a student editor and guided by faculty editors. An editorial board of faculty and staff members assist with the selection process. All ACM students are invited to be part of Expressions. You do not have to major in the arts, humanities or multimedia technology to participate.

Interested in submitting your work for the next edition? The Expressions Release Form for the 2025 edition will open soon.
