Allegany College of Maryland (ACM), along with other community colleges across the
country, hosts and sponsors deliberative dialogues on campus for faculty, staff, students
and community members about diverse and inclusive social issues.
Deliberative dialogues encourage diverse sets of participants to engage in solution-focused
conversations, by helping them to develop the critical thinking skills needed to discuss
and understand complex issues from diverse perspectives.
This democratic learning practice and tool encourages participants to become active
citizens together. Deliberative dialogues address important, and sometimes contentious,
issues that occur in local communities and in broader world contexts.
ACM is a member organization of the Democracy Commitment (TDC).  As a member organization ACM follows the guidelines established by the TDC.
