Letter from the Dean
Winter is here, but spring is soon to follow!
Allegany College of Maryland Center for Continuing Education & Workforce Development is excited to be offering many opportunities that will help you to pass the time until the warm weather returns. Our staff began planning this winter/spring catalog early in the fall to ensure that our customers would find something to interest, challenge and entertain them. We hope you will take advantage of these offerings, whether it is for personal enrichment or professional education.
As always, you will find several courses that are back by popular demand. These classes fill with a mixture of returning individuals, as well as those trying something new for the first time. But we always make sure to have plenty of new selections to stay fresh and current. We want our customers to gain new experiences and learn new skills.
Look for the "New" logo next to all our courses making their premiere. These include several new computer courses, farming methods, and art techniques. You may notice some titles that have not appeared recently that we are bringing back, such as dance and the Cultural Coach trips that are going to new destinations.
Beginning this year, Allegany College of Maryland has begun to offer the statewide Adult Basic Education Program. This allows individuals to earn their high school diploma through GED test preparation or the external diploma program. Please see our ad on page 94 and call for more information.
We are also pleased to announce that coming this summer we will have week-long youth camps for students ages 8-14. This schedule combines a mixture of learning and physical activity. Call now to reserve a week or weeks for your child.
Professionals please take note. ACM continues to provide quality licensure and certification training and workforce skill education, to an extensive range of career fields. This includes both open enrollment courses as well as customized contract training for regional employers.
Remember to be sure and visit our website at www.allegany.edu for more information and new additions to our schedule.
We would like to thank everyone for supporting our programs and allowing us to continue to be the area's leader for lifelong learning. ACM is here for you!
