FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Federal Student Aid is a responsibility of the office of the U.S. Department of Education that supports postsecondary education by providing money for college to eligible students and families.
The FAFSA form is used by all two-year and four-year colleges, universities, and career schools for the awarding of federal student aid and most state and college aid. This aid can include grants, work-study, and loans.
