|NAME:||Donnell VanSkiver||POSITION:||Senior Human Resources Assistant|
Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems,
|Q.||Why did you choose your major?|
|A.||I started out as a Radiologic Technology student but found myself being more drawn to the behind-the-scenes work of helping others. Once I changed to the Administrative Assistant program, I felt as though that was where I should have been all along.
|Q.||What advice would you give to students interested in your career path?|
|A.||Go for it! Being an Administrative Professional is a wonderfully challenging and rewarding career. The role of an Admin is continually evolving and provides opportunities for life-long learning and the ability to work in any area of interest that speaks to you (i.e. medical, staffing, government, law enforcement, athletics, education, etc.)
|Q.||What was your overall experience at ACM?|
|A.||My time at Allegany College of Maryland was extremely positive and exactly what I wanted: small class sizes with focused attention from faculty. I also had opportunities to pursue other passions in the music department along with my studies.
|Q.||Who was your favorite ACM Faculty/Staff member? Why?|
|A.||There were two faculty memebrs that had the most impact on me as a student and on my career choices: Cindy Zumbrun and Thea Hosselrode. Both approached teaching with dispositions that were warm, friendly, and genuine. They seemed to enjoy what they taught and took an active interest in making sure that each student not only understood class content but excelled at it.
|Q.||What is your greatest achievement in your career?|
|A.||The greatest achievement in my career has been to teach other Administrative Professionals. I have had the opportunity to instruct other Admins through the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commission as a certified Instructor for the Administrative Excellence Program and have also taught through the International Association of Administrative Professionals.|
