MASSAGE THERAPY MISSION STATEMENT
The Massage Therapy Program is dedicated to graduate individuals who have a strong knowledge base and professional skills in massage therapy from the holistic wellness model. We focus on supporting students as they grow in self-awareness, professionalism, and community involvement. We commit to inspire the spirit of life-long learning.
PROGRAM GOALS AND STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES
Program Goal #1: Graduates will pass the national and state licensing exams and become employed as a licensed/certified massage therapist.
Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate a fundamental knowledge of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, and pathology and apply it effectively to assess clients and construct a client-centered
session plan.
Program Goal #2: Graduates will maintain professionalism and ethics.
Upon completion of this program, graduates will be able to:
- Demonstrate the ability to effectively maintain compliance with state regulations that govern the scope of
practice of massage therapy. - Delineate the importance of pursuing continuing education opportunities in order to assure professional growth and to embrace life-long learning.
Program Goal #3: Graduates will demonstrate self-care and promote the profession.
Upon completion of this program, graduates will be able to:
- Demonstrate a fundamental knowledge of the significance of integrating the principles of business, ethics, governing laws, and social issues into an effective
massage therapy practice. - Demonstrate proficiency in the effective interaction with clients that fosters mutual respect between the client and therapist.
- Effectively employ the use of self-awareness tools regarding personal health and well-being in a professional manner to establish and to maintain a viable
practice. - Demonstrate and promote the principles of massage therapy, including its benefits and limitations in a holistic perspective of physical, mental, emotional,
and spiritual effects.
