Multimedia Technology - Program Goals & Learning Outcomes

 

Program Goal

     
  1. Students will be prepared for the profession of multimedia that is embedded in artistic expression and creativity that connects the environment of communication and business.
       
    1. Program Level Student Learning Outcomes
      • Graduates will successfully identify and use the elements and principles of design in multimedia.
      • Successful students will be able to identify terminology associated with the concepts, techniques, and processes used throughout the multimedia environment.
      • Present, evaluate, and communicate, or receive, constructive feedback in response to an objective set of criteria for any given work of multimedia design.
      • Successful students will have knowledge of creating a compelling story.
       
  2. Students will possess problem-solving skills, especially the ability to analyze, design and implement solutions in multimedia.
       
    1. Program Level Student Learning Outcomes
      • Using the creative, problem-solving process, combine rational and intuitive methods to create cohesive and successful communications.
      • Create communication solutions by implementing the various stages of the creative design process.
      • Properly assemble a working sound system, identifying components and their function, manipulate audio to be aesthetically pleasing, demonstrate a working knowledge of professional audio equipment.
      • Assemble video equipment and record live and studio single-camera and multi-camera productions demonstrating a working knowledge and function of modern cameras.
      • Demonstrate proper use of advanced camera techniques using a variety of cameras and how they function and operate.
       
  3. Students will possess the technical skills for to be employed in a competitive position in the multimedia field or be well prepared to continue on for specialized study at a four-year college.
       
    1. Program Level Student Learning Outcomes
      • Execute the operation of equipment and/or procedures associated with multiple facets of multimedia. These may include: digital-photography, page layout, typography, video, audio, interactive media, and web design.
      • Gain experience with multimedia processes using current, recognized, industry-standard software as well as computer hardware and software associated in both Mac and Windows platforms.
      • Demonstrate an advanced knowledge of photo editing including: image manipulation, color correction, compositing, toning, and preparing for distribution.
      • Assemble video projects in professional non-linear editing software showing proficiency in importing, exporting, effects, transitions, color correcting, and flow.
      • Demonstrate proper knowledge of recording, editing and producing on-air audio content for professional use.
      • Students will demonstrate the phases of the production cycle and how it relates each area of multimedia.
       
  4. Students will possess professional ethics, understand the need for continuous learning, and an ongoing utilization of current and changing technologies in the field of multimedia.

      • Successful students will be aware of the rapid rate of change of technology and methodologies in the multimedia environment.
      • Successful students will be familiar with techniques and resources in order to obtain knowledge and understanding of new developments in multimedia technology.
      • Students will demonstrate knowledge of the legalities involved in multimedia creation and distribution.
