TECH PREP ARTICULATION AGREEMENT

Somerset County Technology Center

And

Allegany College of Maryland

PROGRAM: It is the intent of this agreement to update the articulation agreement between Somerset County Technology Center (SCTC) and Allegany College of Maryland (ACM) for the Forest Technology Associate degree program and the one-year Tree Care Technician certificate.  This agreement was first executed in 1987 and updated in 1992 and again in 2002.

ELIGIBLE COLLEGE CREDIT: Students will be able to receive college credit for Forest Technology 101 (FOR-101, Introduction to Forestry, 2 credits) under the conditions specified below. Any or all credits obtained in this manner will apply to either the Forest Technology Associate degree program or the Tree Care Technician certificate program. Students may enroll in either program without duplication of course work.

REQUIREMENTS: Students must complete the entire three (3) year Forestry program at SCTC with a "C" average in all Forestry courses. To receive credit for Forest Technology 101, the student must have the SCTC Forestry teacher complete an ACM Articulation Credit Form and submit it to the ACM Forest Technology Program Director. There will be no examination to receive credit for Forest Technology 101, as verification by the SCTC Forestry teacher is sufficient evidence of mastery of the materials covered in this course. Credits will be posted as "Credit by Exam" on the students' ACM transcript.

BENEFITS: Students wishing to obtain credit in this manner must initiate the articulation process with their SCTC forestry teacher to complete the Credit Form. There is no tuition or other costs associated with obtaining articulated credit. Credit for this course (s) will be posted on the student's transcript after the student has completed one semester at ACM. The student must be enrolled in the ACM Forest Technology Associate degree program or the Tree Care Technician certificate program. Students will be guaranteed admission in either program.
