Student Services



Allegany College of Maryland uses the Blackboard Learning Management System (LMS) to teach all online courses plus enhanced face to  face courses. To learn how to use Blackboard enroll in the Blackboard Jumpstart Course (open to current ACM students only). The Blackboard LMS creates content that is ADA compliant. Student Help Desk

At some time during the semester, you may have to deal with computer problems and/or technical difficulties with the Internet or your own computer. PLEASE NOTE: Technical difficulties do occur. However, technical difficulties do not excuse late or incomplete assignments. Be prepared, and never wait until the last minute to complete assignments. The student help desk can help with these kinds of problems:

  • solutions to common Blackboard problems
  • computer system requirements
  • browser requirements
  • basic browser, computer and Internet information



Plug-Ins or other free software may be required for viewing some content in online classes. Click here for a list of plug-ins and how to download them.


Online Library Resources

Access ACM's many online library resources available to online students such as:

  • Search for books, journal articles, and videos
  • Search online databases with full-text journal articles available online.
  • Access resources to help you do research
  • and more


Student Success Center

The Student Success Center provides student services with assistance to students throughout their college career at ACM. Their services include: testing, career exploration, tutoring and transfer advising.


Disability Services and Learning Support

With respect to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), it is important that students with disabilities receive services that are comparable to those received by nondisabled peers.
