Layton Sagal

High School & Grad Year: Mountain Ridge High School (2020)

Hometown: Midland, MD

Major (Academic Program): General Studies

Fun Fact: “I work at Chick-Fil-A in LaVale, MD.”

Favorite Thing About ACM: “It’s a small campus and is easy to navigate.”

Why did you choose ACM?: “ACM is extremely affordable and is close to home.”

Hometown: Keyser, WV

Major (Academic Program): Human Service Associate & Addictions Certificate

Fun Fact: “I originally went to school for studio art and now I hope to incorporate that passion into counseling, using art therapy techniques.”

Favorite Thing About ACM: “The smaller class size allows for more interaction with the class and the instructors.”

Why did you choose ACM?: “The Human Service program is a very thorough education, provides three internships, and has a great reputation in the community.”

Hometown: Paw Paw, WV

Major (Academic Program): Nursing - Applying for the Spring '22 cohort

Fun Fact: “Outside of school, I enjoy riding horses, as well as spending time with my goat, two cats, and two dogs.”

Favorite Thing About ACM: “How student-oriented it is – I can ask questions 24/7 and get an answer from either my professor or mentor in less than 24 hours.”

Why did you choose ACM?: “The small class sizes and it is close to home – My aunt graduated from the Nursing program and highly recommended it, stating that students get a hands-on experience and the BEST education.”

Major (Academic Program): Nursing

Fun Fact: “I’ve been a student at ACM since my senior year at Fort Hill when I was a part of the Early College Program.”

Favorite Thing About ACM: “The beautiful location of the campus and the smaller class sizes.”

Why did you choose ACM?: “The staff is very helpful and friendly, the campus is beautiful, and there are many great academic programs at a great cost.”

Alexis Kastell

Alexis Kastell

High School & Grad Year: Glen Burnie High School, Chesapeake High School, Mountain Ridge High School (2013)

Hometown: Frostburg, MD

Major (Academic Program): Sociology

Fun Fact: “I was bullied throughout middle school and high school. It subsided around 10th grade, but the psychological impact is still something that I battle with on a daily basis. I strive to be a role model, hard worker, and someone that everyone can come to if needed. Life is about so much more than being the 'most popular' person in the room. Life is about being the 'most impactful' – Always be nice!”

Favorite Thing About ACM: “The professors hands down – I was and continue to be blessed with the most passionate, intelligent, motivating, inspiring, and all around genuine professors. My college experience has been my favorite journey to date, even on the hard days.”

Why did you choose ACM?: “I chose ACM because it was financially smart to do so. I have saved thousands of dollars by attending ACM for both of my associate degrees. Also, I was able to continue to learn at ACM because of many of the great professors. If not for them, I would not have gotten to where I am today.”

Major (Academic Program): Nursing

Fun Fact: "I am a handyman. I can work on anything from using a needle to sew to using power tools. I enjoy home renovations and not just because I watch too much HGTV.”

Favorite Thing About ACM: “The fun and caring Faculty.”
