DEADLINE FOR ACM STUDENT LITERARY MAGAZINE NEARS

Cumberland, MD (Jan. 21, 2021) – Allegany College of Maryland (ACM) students are invited to submit their original artwork, creative writing, essays, or photographs for consideration in Expressions, the college’s student literary and arts magazine. The deadline for submission is February 12, and all current ACM students are invited to be part of Expressions, regardless of their program of study.

A tradition for more than three decades, the magazine is a printed compilation of original essays, poems, prose, drawings, paintings, prints, and sculptures. Expressions is edited by a student and guided by faculty editors. An editorial board of faculty and staff members assist with the selection process. Full submission guidelines and information is available online at allegany.edu/expressions.

Each June, Expressions is proudly submitted to be judged as part of the Community College Humanities Association’s national literary magazine competition. ACM competes in the association’s Eastern Division, which extends from Maryland and the District of Columbia north to Maine and includes Puerto Rico. The college placed second in its division in 2017, third in 2016, and first in 2015. The Community College Humanities Association did not host the literary magazine competition in 2020 due to the pandemic.
