EXPRESSIONS STUDENT LITERARY MAGAZINE RELEASED

CUMBERLAND, Md. (May 11, 2021) – Allegany College of Maryland's award-winning literary magazine, Expressions, has released its thirty-second edition.

Expressions 2021 features 54 examples of original student work in prose, poetry and art in its 81 pages. While the majority of its contributors major in the arts, humanities and multimedia technology, the magazine’s submission process is open to the entire student body. Works include essays, short stories, poems, paintings, prints, drawings and photographs.

Expressions has been submitted to the Eastern Division of the Community College Humanities Association (CCHA) to be judged as part of its 2021 national literary magazine competition. ACM competes in CCHA’s Eastern Division, which extends from Maryland and the District of Columbia north to Maine and includes Puerto Rico, and has had the esteemed honor of placing second in its division in 2017, third in 2016, and first in 2015.

Student editor Gina Franciosi provided the introduction to Expressions. Tino Wilfong served as the faculty editor, and Heather Greise was the assistant editor for poetry. An editorial board comprised of 15 faculty and staff members from the college assisted with selection process, and Shannon Burnside designed the publication’s layout.

Copies of Expressions are available locally and at the Cumberland campus. A pdf is available for view online at allegany.edu/expressions
