CUMBERLAND, Md. (Nov. 9, 2021) – Allegany College of Maryland is celebrating its Diamond
Jubilee with a variety of engagement opportunities for alumni, supporters and friends
of the college.

ACM released a special commemorative edition of ACCESS ACM, a biannual magazine for alumni, supporters, and friends of the college. The magazine
features articles about alumni Margaret Wigfield Pennington ’63, Anna Colbert, Clayonia
T. Colbert-Dorsey, ’83, Dana Colbert-Mackey’ 84, Daryl Mackey ’84, Kecia Colbert ’86,
Tom “Speedy” Jones ’84, Dominique Mackey ’17, Kiya Wilhelm ‘18, Susan Tasker-Weaver
’77, Adam Bucynski ’21, and Benjamin “Ben” Shertzer ’19. Additional profiles include
Elaine Solomon, a member of the ACM Foundation’s Board of Directors, Bill Helmick,
a former director of Adult Education, and Michele Martz, a former ACM adjunct instructor
who now serves on the college’s Board of Trustees, as well as alumni milestones. The

Show Us Your Diploma
The college is challenging former Trojans to share recent photos of themselves holding
their ACC/ACM diploma(s) on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and/or LinkedIn using #ACM60. They’re encouraged to include fellow family members or coworkers who are also alumni.
Individuals who are not on social media may email their images to Joshua Getz, the college’s marketing and alumni specialist.
$60 for 60 Years
The ACM Foundation is hosting a special $60 for 60 [years] fundraising initiative as a way to lift up future ACM Trojans. College supporters are encouraged to contribute a one-time or recurring tax-deductible
gift of $60 to the ACM Foundation. Checks may be mailed to the Foundation Office at 12401 Willowbrook Road SE, Cumberland, MD 21502-2596. Secure donations may be
made through GiveCampus.
Nominate an Alumni
Anyone may nominate an ACC/ACM alumni for the college’s Distinguished Alumni of the Year award program. The award recognizes alumni who have demonstrated excellence in their career, dedication
to their communities, and support of the college. Nomination information is available and the deadline for submission is Mar. 15.

Take a Campus Tour
From its recent construction of the Western Region Correctional Training Center to
its five-year renovation of the Technology Building, ACM’s main campus in Cumberland
has undergrown incredible changes. College alumni and friends are invited to “come home again” for walking tours of the
campus. Personalized tours may be scheduled by calling the Thomas Welcome Center at 301-784-5005 or emailing info@allegany.edu. ACM requires the wearing of face masks indoors and outdoors in crowds as well as social
distancing.
