Come and join instructor Ellen McDaniel-Weissler and discover The Movies of Judy Garland. Number 8 on the American Film Institute's list of the Top 25 Female Movie Stars of All Time, hers was also the immortal voice which sang the song the AFI rated the most influential of the 20th century -- "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." But Judy Garland was not just a musical comedy performer -- she was a breathtaking dramatic actress, comedienne, dancer, singer, concert performer -- one of the rare child stars who rose to be a legend as a mature actress. Through her movies, we will study the artist that was Judy Garland, learn about her life and her craft, and discuss what made Garland the unique and enthralling performer she was. Movies to be viewed include: "The Wizard of Oz," "The Clock," "For Me and My Gal," "Meet Me in St. Louis," "The Harvey Girls," "The Pirate," "Easter Parade" and "A Star is Born." Bring your memories to class and enjoy your favorite Judy Garland movies. The instructor, Ellen McDaniel- Weissler, has a rich background in English, American and European history, Opera and has studied medieval history and arts with the Society for Creative Anachronism.
