Admission to the Traditional/Biotechnology Option of the MLT Program

Traditional MLT Program:
Accepts students into to the clinical phase of the curriculum in the Fall Semester as eligible.

Those applicants not completely eligible are admitted as "pre-clinical phase students" and they can take general education courses toward the MLT AAS degree.

"Fast-Track" Admission :
The Fast Track option of the traditional MLT program is designed for students that have completed a Bachelors Degree or the general education courses required in the MLT curriculum. The ideal sequence begins in the summer semester; therefore applications should be received by March 1 of the year admission is requested.

Biotechnology Option Admission:
The A.A.S. Biotechnology Option of the MLT program admits students using the same criteria as the traditional MLT program.

Those applicants not completely eligible are admitted as "pre-clinical phase students" and they can take general education courses toward the MLT AAS degree.

The process in applying for either the Biotechnology certificate or Biotechnology option is different from the traditional MLT application process only by the need to select the biotech degree or certificate in the choice of majors on the College's application.

Biotechnology Certificate Option Admission:
The Biotechnology Certificate requires a B.S. Degree in science or a A.A./A.A.S. Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology.

The process in applying for biotech is different from the traditional MLT application process only by the need to select the biotech degree or certificate in the choice of majors on the College's application.

Blended MLT and Biotechnology Curriculum:
Many of the MLT students will become dual enrolled in the MLT and Biotechnology Options to diversify the types of laboratory employment opportunities available to them upon graduation.

No special admission is required to blend the two options. The MLT faculty work with the students to customize their schedules to allow this dual major.
