ABOUT THE CLINIC

Purpose

  • The Massage Therapy Student Clinic offers massage to the public in order to provide students with hands-on experience in working with a diverse population in a clinical environment.
  • The massage and bodywork provided is intended to promote relaxation, relieve muscle tension and create a general feeling of well being. It should not be considered medical treatment or therapy.
  • Students will provide fifty-minute (50) client-focused massages incorporating bodywork modalities and techniques learned in the classroom.
  • Students will develop and/or enhance their knowledge and skills in:
    • Professional communication and client education
    • Intake and documentation of client information and session
    • Client assessment and development of appropriate session plan
    • Delivery of massage techniques/strokes using proper body mechanics
    • Time and office management
  • Clinic is not a full-service spa or a clinical practice. We encourage clients to seek ongoing massage therapy with a properly trained, licensed massage therapist.

THE APPOINTMENT

    • 5-10 minutes of reviewing health history & goals for the session
      and changing clothes.

    • 5-10 minutes of changing clothes, review/education and student evaluation.
  • We request that new clients arrive 15 minutes prior to their scheduled appointment time to complete intake forms.
