Allegany College of Maryland is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and by the Maryland Higher Education Commission. It is empowered by the Maryland Higher Education Commission to grant the Associate Degree.
The College is a member of the American Council on Education, the American Association of Community Colleges, the Junior College Council of the Middle Atlantic States, the Maryland JUCO Athletic Conference, and the National Junior College Athletic Association.
The Dental Hygiene Program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation which is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Commission on Recognition of Postsecondary Accreditation to accredit dental assisting, dental hygiene, and dental laboratory technology education programs. Programs which are approved are conducted in accordance with published accreditation standards.
The Dental Hygiene Program accreditation status is approval by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. This is the highest rating granted.
Approval: An accreditation classification granted to an education program indicating that the program in general achieves or exceeds the basic requirements for accreditation. This accreditation classification specifies that the program has no serious deficiencies or weaknesses.
Graduates of Commission accredited programs may sit for the National Board Examination and any of the 50 states licensure examination of their choosing.
