Monty Python's "Spamalot"

You asked for it. You got it. And boy will you get it! The Culture Coach is happy to host this trip to the fun Toby's Dinner Theatre in Columbia, Maryland for a rambunctious matinee production of the award winning Broadway musical farce, Spamalot. Monty Python's Spamalot is a musical comedy "lovingly ripped off from" the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Like the film, it is a highly irreverent parody of the Arthurian Legend. One of the musical's creators, Eric Idle, explained the title in a February 2004 press release: "It comes from a line in the movie which goes: 'We eat ham, and jam and Spam a lot'" The original 2005 Broadway production, directed by Mike Nichols, won three Tony Awards, including the Tony Award for Best Musical of the 2004-2005 season and received 14 Tony Award nominations. During its initial run of more than 1,500 performances it was seen by more than two million people and grossed over $175 million. Aside from the show, in an ironic twist, you will not enjoy dinner at the dinner theatre but rather a delicious brunch buffet featuring a selection of waffles, Danish, French toast, and yes, even Spam...if you choose. We will be seeing the closing matinee of the show making this an afternoon full of laughter.

Tickets must be purchased before Friday, February 21, 2014. Seats for this trip are extremely limited and will be filled on a first come first served basis.
