A Day of Yoga: D.C. Edition (C/S294)Featuring the Art of Transformation exhibit at the Smithsonian Institute.
The Smithsonian Institution is announcing plans for what curators believe is the first exhibition about the visual history of yoga. "Yoga: The Art of Transformation" will feature temple structures, devotional icons and manuscripts as well as early photographs, books and films about yoga. The exhibit will eventually travel to the San Francisco Asian Art Museum and the Cleveland Museum of Art. The Smithsonian's Sackler Gallery is organizing this exhibit. Curators pulled together more than 130 objects from collections in the U.S., India and Europe. Passengers aboard the Culture Coach for this unique experience will not only be able to attend the yoga exhibit but will also engage in a yoga class in the front yard (weather permitting) of the Smithsonian taught by Allegany College of Maryland's very own Christi Bonello. Afterward, you will be on your own to enjoy other Smithsonian Museums and offerings, grab a bite to eat, and explore the Nation's Capital on your own until the bus departs for home. Not into yoga? Namaste! You could opt out of yoga altogether and simply enjoy a day in our Nation's Capital.
