Knitting, Intermediate – Felted Bags (C/S172)Felting is an exciting, almost magical way to change the texture and look of a knitted item. You start by creating an oversized bag or other shape out of wool, and then intentionally shrinking it! This results in a thick, warm, fuzzy fabric that holds its shape. The class will discuss how the felting process works and what yarns you can use while we demystify the process of designing and creating your own felted bag. You will need worsted weight WOOL yarn that will felt, about 440 yards of one color and 220 yards of a second, coordinating color. Suitable yarns include Patons Classic Wool and Cascade 220. If the yarn label says it is machine washable, that won't work! You will also need a size 13 circular needle, 24 inches long. Patterns will be provided by instructor. You need to know how to cast on, knit, purl and bind off. Register early; class size limited to 6 students.
