Are you seeking an administrative career in a professional setting? Does updating your office management and technology skills interest you? Does completing your training and education in less than a year appeal to you? If so, Allegany College of Maryland's Office Systems Support program may be the career training right for you.

Overview

Student taking appointment over phoneOur Office Systems Support program prepares you for an administrative career in an office setting. You'll learn up-to-date technology, communication, and administrative support skills that will make you a valuable asset in any office environment.

Our two-semester educational training program trains you to conduct the following tasks:

  • Preparing documents;
  • Demonstrating proficient keyboarding and computer skills;             
  • Communicating effectively with coworkers and clients;
  • Integrating computer software applications;
  • Performing general offices tasks; and
  • Planning and organizing meetings, travel, and events.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of office assistants is expected to grow approximately 11% through 2018. 

To provide you with flexibility in your study, we offer program courses both in traditional classroom setting and online. And to further your training, our program offers you the opportunity for a practicum/externship experience.

Successful completion of your coursework qualifies you with a Certificate in Office Technologies – Office Systems Support. Classes required in the completion of the Office Systems Support certificate can be applied toward a two-year Associate of Applied Science degree in Office Technologies – Administrative Assistant.

While attending Allegany College of Maryland, Office Technologies – Office Systems Support students are invited to participate in the student organization of Phi Beta Lambda (PBL), the collegiate equivalent of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), and related community service projects.
