Activated Sludge: Settleability Problems and Loss of Solids; Filamentous Organisms (VTE868)Participants review the impact and control of undesired filamentous organism growth in the activated sludge processes. Topics presented include: positive and negative impacts of filamentous organisms, desired and undesired filamentous organism growth, foam-porducing filamentous organisms. The afternoon session will focus on the commonly occurring operational conditions that are responsible for settleability problems and loss of solids in the activated sludge process as well as their identification and control. The operational conditions presented include: nutrient deficiency, denitrification, loss of fine solids through shearing action, sludge aging, foam production and undesired Zooloeal growth.
