Search & Seizure (PRO949)
Class focuses upon the foundations of the 4th Amendment and its relation to law enforcement officers. Specifically, the course will focus upon search situations that law enforcement officers will encounter on a regular basis for their job. Topics discussed will be the origins and purpose of the 4th Amendment; burdens of proof required under the 4th Amendment; when search warrants are required; what is Cartilage?; The Terry Shop; Accosting vs. Detention; The Carroll Doctrine; searches in the Wake of Gant; interesting cases; and open question/discussion. This course has been submitted to the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions for 4 hours in-service.4/12, Friday (1 Session)
