Art

Are you interested in exploring your creative side? Or is your life goal to carve out a professional career in the arts? No matter your intention, let Allegany College of Maryland's Art program give you the instruction and preparation you need to make art a part of your everyday life.

Overview

Student PaintingAllegany College of Maryland's Art program fosters creative and personal growth. As you earn your Associate of Arts degree in Arts and Sciences, you'll improve your technique and gain a greater understanding of art.

Our hands-on curriculum is studio intensive to help you develop your portfolio -- a plus when submitting your application for transfer to an art institute or university program. We offer opportunities for independent and directed studies to further develop your art techniques. In addition to the traditional classroom setting, we also offer online courses.

As an Art program student, you'll have chance to judge submissions for our college's award-winning literary magazine, Expressions. Outside the classroom and labs, you'll enjoy field trips to Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and Washington, D.C. as well as Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwaters and other places of interest.

You may also have the chance to display your work on our campus; our college proudly boasts four art galleries with constant rotation of shows. In addition, the surrounding area is home to a vibrant arts community with galleries, theaters, and fine arts community events.
