SAT Prep (PRO831)
ACM/CE is pleased to offer a comprehensive SAT Preparatory Course beginning June 12, 2013. This course was initiated last year and students who participated saw their SAT scores rise by as much as 340 points! Veteran teacher, Elizabeth Geiger will again be instructing the verbal and writing sections of the course. Wendy Ricker, an experienced math instructor and popular tutor, will return to lead the math portion of the class.
Getting the best possible SAT score is a key factor in helping your student gain admission to the college(s) of their choice. This course is designed to prepare students for the October, 2013 SAT exam. (Date not yet official, but likely October 5, 2013.) The course also, serendipitously, kept students actively engaged in learning over the summer and many found they were better prepared for classwork when school resumed in the fall.
Students will begin the program by taking a pre-test to enable the instructors to target individual areas of concern. The pre-test is scheduled for Wednesday June 12, 2013 from 1-5PM. However, alternate testing times prior to June 12th can be arranged.
The six instructional sessions will run from 5PM-8PM on Wednesdays June 19 and 26 and July 10, 17, 24, and 31. There will be homework assigned each week to enable students to get the greatest benefit from this course.
To accommodate vacations, materials will be provided to students who need to miss a session, enabling them to remain up to date when they return.
All students will be required to take the pre-test and a post-test. The post-test is scheduled for August 7th from 1-5PM. The post-test will be used to identify continued areas of weakness which will be addressed at a full-day SAT cram session held Saturday September 28, 2013, one week prior to the exam. The final cram session will run from 9AM to 4PM. Lunch will be provided.
Course Cost: $439.00
Maryland Senior Course Cost: $434.00
(This includes pre-test, Six 3-hour instructional sessions, post-test, full-day cram session, textbook, study DVD, and lunch on September 28th.) Class size is limited and early registration is advised.
