Introduction to Acting Techniques (C/S203)
If all the world's a stage, this course is your road map. Renown stage actress Nicole Halmos instructs this course which will enhance students' communication skills through the study of physical, vocal, analytical and intuitive techniques used in stage work. Students will learn scene study, character objectives, and motivations. The lessons learned in this class would not only be invaluable to the budding actor but also to the seasoned community theatre veteran looking for new insights. The course is also an instrumental tool in applying lessons learned on the stage to everyday life and personal character development. Discussion topics will include the theory and technique of creating a role with activities in both solo work and scene study. About the Instructor: A graduate of Bishop Walsh High School, Nicole Halmos has enjoyed a stellar, award winning and varied career as a sought after actress and public speaker. She has appeared in such local shows as Importance of Being Earnest, Hairspray, Fiddler on the Roof, Dirty Blonde, Shirley Valentine, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The Man Who Came to Dinner, Twelfth Night, The Full Monty, Man of La Mancha., Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf , The Vagina Monologues and Confessions from the Ladies Room. Her appearances have also included appearances on the national stage and in regional companies.. She toured nationally and internationally in The Sound of Music with Marie Osmond and Debbie Boone (though not at the same time). On television, she has has guest starred on Law & Order:SVU.
