Culinary Arts
If you enjoy watching cooking shows on television or you've dreamed of running a restaurant kitchen, the culinary arts may be your recipe for success. Let Allegany College of Maryland's Culinary Arts program showcase both your creativity and your cooking talent.
From food purchasing to baking, our Culinary Arts program trains you for a variety of positions, including sous chef, cook, and wholesale food representative. As you earn your Associate of Applied Science degree in Culinary Arts, you'll learn through hands-on experiences, such as the opportunity to operate and manage a college-owned restaurant in downtown Cumberland in conjunction with our Hospitality Management program.
As a Culinary Arts program student, you may choose to concurrently earn your Hospitality Management degree. Be sure to discuss this possibility with your advisor if it's of interest to you.
After graduation and obtained work experience in food preparation, you may choose to apply for certification with the American Culinary Federation Educational Institute (ACFEI).
The ACM Culinary Arts program has been approved by the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) as a Statewide Designated Program. Maryland residents from counties other than Allegany County who register in this eligible program will be charged the out-of-county tuition rate. However, these students may be eligible to receive reimbursement for a portion of the cost difference between the in-county and out-of-county tuition rates. Funding availability for this program is based on funding from the state of Maryland and is thus subject to change each semester. Some restrictions apply.
