Downton Abbey: Life Between Stairs (C/S195)
In this new course, Ellen McDaniel-Weissler will use the wildly popular BBC show "Downton Abbey" as a forum for studying the class issues in British society. Topics would include status, moving between classes, class expectations, language and accents, clothing, work, money, and the aristocracy. The class will gain an understanding of the softening class structure in England, and the rigidity from which it sprang.
