Drawing for the Advanced - Lessons in Classical Drawing (C/S182)

In this course, students will learn the theory, practices and essential techniques of freehand observational drawing. Some topics include a variety of approaches in learning beginning lines, drawing after casts, proportions, forming shapes, drawing from plates, the illusion of the third dimension on a flat surface, and light and shadows. “Drawing is the most basic passageway though which you can access the power of art to express profound universal ideas, felling, beliefs and truths. Your work, whether drawing, painting, or sculpture- will stand only if it is constructed on a solid foundation. ” (Fred Ross, Chairman, Art Renewal Center). Required text: Lessons in Classical Drawing: Essential Techniques from Inside the Atelier by Juliette Aristides. This text book can be purchased at www.barnesandnoble.com and www.amazon.com for approximately $20.00.
