Quilting for Beginners (C/S173)
Quilting is a great way to keep an American tradition alive. This course is for students who want to learn the art of quilting. Topics covered will be how to choose fabric, appropriate threads for quilting, use of needles, batting types and the various supplies required for quilting. The students will experience the difference between hand and machine quilting. The rotary cutter and self-healing cutting mats will be demonstrated along with their safe use. Students will learn the use of color to create traditional quilt patterns and non-traditional fine art quilts. Students are required to bring their own sewing machines and supplies to each class for the full hands-on experience. Register early! Class limit is 8 students.9/20-11/15, Thursdays (8 Sessions)
