CCNA: Networking 1 (CMT159)
Become familiar with the architecture, structure, functions, components, and models of the Internet and other computer networks. The OSI and TCP layered models are used to examine the nature and roles of protocols and services at the application, network, data link, and physical layers in conjunction with the Cisco Networking Academy. You will also be introduced to the principles and structure of IP addressing and the fundamentals of Ethernet concepts, media, and operations to provide a foundation for the curriculum. Introductory router/switch device configuration skills are also included. Prerequisites: A+ certification or equivalent work experience. Most class lessons, materials, and labs are accessed via the web; however, students and instructor also will interact at scheduled times via online classroom and will require two Saturday meetings. NOTE: orientation meeting on Saturday, 9/8/12. You must have a personal computer and Internet access (broadband is recommended) to complete online assignments and exams.
