Introduction to Hand Therapy with an Emphasis on Splinting (CHE564)
This course is designed to introduce the practitioner to the basics of hand therapy. Areas to be addressed are hand and upper extremity anatomy, edema management, scar management, functional exercise, functional activity and splinting. During lab sessions, attendees will have ample time to apply learned techniques. Common diagnoses of the hand and upper extremity will be covered and conservative and post operative protocols provided. This course would be beneficial for practitioners in all settings from pediatrics to geriatrics, not just outpatient hand clinics. We manipulate our environment with our hands; they are the keys to the world. So, no matter what setting you are working in, you will find parts or this entire course applicable. Approved for 15 contact hours from the MD OT Board and 1.5 CEU’s from the MD PT Board. Open to professionals and ACM OTA students.
