This course for dental professionals will touch on 2 aspects of practice: HIPAA and Infection Control.HIPAA: Learn how the HITECH Act significantly enhanced the penalties that may be imposed for a violation of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). The HITECH Act subjects covered entities and their business associates to periodic audits. Are you ready? One dentist who was audited recently wasn’t ready: The State Department of Health and Human Services notified him that penalties could range from $100 to $50,000 per day for noncompliance. Learn how you can comply with the new requirements to avoid complaints and potential penalties.
Infection Control: Learn how the blood borne pathogens standard affects your practice. Understand what inspectors are looking for in achieving safety in your workplace setting. Policies, forms and recordkeeping are critical in demonstrating compliance. You will receive instruction on how you can prepare your OSHA compliance policies, MSDS collection, annual chemical inventory, employee medical records, quality control system and standard operating procedures for infection control.
