Current Trends in Adolescent Substance Abuse (HSP 517)
This training will increase the participant’s awareness of the current adolescent drug trends. There will be a discussion of the beliefs and behavior of various substance abusers, as well as, signs and symptoms of abuse. The substances that will be reviewed will include: narcotics (heroin and pharmaceuticals), stimulants (methamphetamine, pharmaceuticals, and bath salts), and over the counter (dextromorphan), marijuana (THC and synthetics). Through this workshop, the participant will learn to understand the client and his/her behavior thus increasing their ability to establish a therapeutic relationship. The methodology for the workshop will include: lecture, audio-visual aids, brainstorming, and small group. Open to professionals in the Human Services field.9/24, Monday (1 session)
