Quilting (C/S077)

For the experienced quilter, this course provides instruction in the art of traditional quilting. Students will learn to create and complete a traditional sampler quilt that will fit a queen size bed. Color values and techniques in creating textures through fabric manipulation will be discussed as well as various machine and hand stitches. For the fall class, students will be using a Block of the Month pattern. There are two pattern choices - each using different fabrics, "Back to Nature" and "Batik Nature". They can be purchased at Four Seasons Stitchery in Grantsville, MD. The instructor will teach one block each week that comprises the center of the quilt. Students should have a good understanding of quilting techniques and be familiar with rotary cutting. Senior tuition waiver applies to Maryland residents 60 or older.
