Knitting, Intermediate - Hat and Mittens! (C/S172)
You know how to cast on, knit, purl and bind off. Now what? In this class, students will make a hat and mittens (or fingerless mitts, if you would prefer) without seams – that means no sewing! The class will discuss knitting in the round, working with two or more colors in the same row and matching gauge to the project, including modifying a pattern to accommodate your selected yarn and demystify the process of designing and creating your own hat or mitten pattern. Supply List: Worsted weight yarn, acrylic or wool or a wool/acrylic blend, a 16 inch circular needle in size 7 or 8 and double point needles, in the same size. (Instead of double point needles, students could use two 24 or 29 inch circulars, or a single 40 inch long circular in your chosen size. The three techniques will be discussed in class.) Patterns will be provided by the instructor. Register early; class size limited to 15 students.9/17-11/5, Mondays (8 Sessions)
