Students should apply for admission no later than one semester prior to the semester in which they plan to attend.

For some majors such as Criminal Justice, Business and Elementary Education, transfer students are encouraged to apply as early as a year in advance. Shippensburg University uses a rolling admissions deadline which means students may apply at any time prior to the start of the semester in which they plan to enroll.   Applying early is the best way to ensure a seat in your degree program.

GENERAL TRANSFER INFORMATION

No more than half of the credits (60-64) required for a baccalaureate degree may be accepted for transfer credit from 2-year or community colleges.

Courses identified as general education courses at ACM will transfer to Ship and will either satisfy general education requirements, core major, or elective credit.

Only official transcripts, ones sent directly to the Ship’s Admissions Office from other colleges, will be recognized for transfer credit.

Shippensburg only recognizes credits earned at regionally accredited institutions. Allegany College of Maryland is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.

Ship will review transcripts and send students a course-by-course evaluation at the time  of admission.

Any students not transferring English 101 or a college level Math with a grade of C or better will be required to complete diagnostic (placement) tests in communication and computation.

Courses in which a D grade was earned may transfer, depending upon the department at Ship.
