Resources on the Web

The following sites are especially appropriate for students working on a Science Fair Project.

IMPORTANT: Please read the following before accessing the Intel/ISEF International Rules & Guidelines (IR&G) concerning several differences between the international competition and the Western Maryland Science Expo:

  1. Disregard all references to Team Projects in the IR&G.
  1. Disregard any references to category Gerontology in the IR&G.
  1. Regarding Informed Consent Forms for Human Subjects Projects, wherever it states “strongly recommend” in the IR&G, substitute “required.”

(Note that there are still many areas where Informed Consent Forms are not necessary  – see page 16, Rule 2, of the IR&G.)

  1. Do not use the Abstract Form from the IR&G.  It is a camera-ready form for the international competition only.  Use the Abstract Form from the Western Maryland Student Handbook or the Western Maryland Science Expo Handbook.

(The Student Handbook is on the website for everyone to access, and the WMSEH is on the website for teachers only.  Teachers also have a hard copy of the WMSEH from which the Student Handbook is taken.  Note that the forms from the IR&G that are to be completed by ALL students are also included in the Student Handbook.  Remaining forms in the IR&G are used under specific circumstances as needed.)

Thank you.
