Offered first and second semesters, and as demand warrants in summer session. Three hours lecture and three hours laboratory a week. Fee: $35.00. This course provides an introduction to the fundamental concepts and basic scientific reasoning skills essential to the sciences. Laboratory experiments and observations help provide the basis on which students construct knowledge and increase their abilities in scientific reasoning. The topics to be included are the fundamentals of physics and chemistry. The course is designed to transfer as a laboratory science and qualifies as a general elective in the physical or biological sciences. Prerequisite: Mathematics 90.
Physics 130, Meteorology, is a one-semester course in the weather and climate. The course is normally taught during the spring semester and uses the American Metrological Society’s “Online Weather Studies.” Physics 103 is taught online. While the course is not mathematical, some mathematics is inevitably required in a science. For this reason, the student should be enrolled in or have completed Math 90.
