Offered first semester. Three hours lecture and three hours laboratory a week. Fee: $55.00, plus deposit for glassware. Fundamental principles and theories of organic chemistry, methods of preparation reactions of the hydrocarbons, alkyl halides, ethers and alcohols, and laboratory techniques are studied. Prerequisite: Chemistry 102
Who should take this course Chemistry 203, Organic Chemistry I, is the first semester of a two-semester sequence in Organic Chemistry for those who intend to major in the sciences, engineering, or the allied health professions at a senior institution. Either Chemistry 102 or a two-semester course in general chemistry is a prerequisite for this course.
