Prospective Students

Here is a checklist of steps that need to be taken before starting at ACM.

  1. Submit Admission Application – NO fee required for applying!
  2. Send ACM an official copy of your high school transcripts, which can be obtain through your guidance office. All students MUST submit a final transcription after high school graduation or completion of GED.
  3. In order to apply for early college your guidance counselor will need to give you written permission, which also needs sent in with your application.
  4. Contact the Student Success Center to set up a time to take the placement exam. Exception:  You can be exempt from taking the placement exam if you have taken the SAT and scored at least 550 on each section.
  5. If you are going into a competitive/selective admissions program (see visitor information web page for list of selective programs) you must apply to this program.  More information is available in our College Catalog or by directly calling the specific program.
  6. Remember to apply for financial aid and scholarships.  ACM offers over 200 in-house scholarships (more information can be found on the scholarship web page) and will accept any outside scholarship awards.  To find out if you qualify for financial aid you must submit a FAFSA form (go to www.fafsa.gov for more information).  It’s best to submit this form by February 15 of the year you plan on enrolling (ex. February 15, 2010 when enrolling Fall Semester 2010). In addition to filing the FAFSA, you must complete an in-house ACM Financial Aid Application.
  7. After submitting your application to the school you should receive an acceptance letter within three weeks, which will have the name of your adviser printed on it.
  8. You will need to set up a time to meet with your adviser to go over your program and develop your class schedule.  Before meeting with your advisor, it would be best if you have already submitted your SAT scores or taken the placement assessment.
  9. For those interested in living on campus, there is a separate application process. Please go to www.allegany.edu/willowbrookwoods for steps on applying for housing. Note:  There is an application fee for housing.
