Integrative Health Letter of Recognition

Who should take the Integrative Health "Letter of Recognition" courses?

  • health/mental health providers
  • allied health students
  • students studying or interested in human service/psychology/social work
  • anyone interested in health, healing, and wellness

Why take the courses for a "Letter of Recognition"?

A "Letter of Recognition" will be awarded to students who successfully complete the 11 hours of coursework listed below. The "Letter of Recognition" offers students a competitive edge in employment, develops their career portfolios, and provides documented proficiency in coursework which is helpful for specialization, further study at four-year institutions, or upward mobility within employment settings.

What courses are required?

IH 114 Integrative Approaches to Health & Healing 2 semester hours
BIO 150 Medicinal Botany 3 semester hours
BIO 215 Nutrition 3 semester hours
IH 230 PSY 230 Health Psychology 3 semester hours

Other Integrative Health Courses offered:

IH 101 Introduction to Mind-Body Skills 1 semester hour
IH 110 Tai Chi 1 semester hour
IH 115 Yoga 1 semester hour
PE 120 Water Aerobics 1 semester hour

 

What skills does a Integrative Health "Letter of Recognition" provide?

Five core skill/objectives are integrated into all courses (in addition to content-specific course objectives for each individual course.) Students will:

  • Apply Integrative Health philosophy and principles to practice.
  • Identify "gold standard" research that is the foundation for integrative health practices.
  • Demonstrate basic skills in "whole person care."
  • Demonstrate basic self-care skills to enhance workforce and personal wellness.
  • Work as a member of an interdisciplinary team to address health-care issues from a mind-body perspective.
