- TRANSFER ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- Candidates for eligibility
to full-time admission as transfer students must satisfy one of the
following categories.
- A. Less than 12 credits of
transferable credits, as determined by WVU must meet freshman
- admissions standards.
- B. 12 to 28 credits of
transferable credit as determined by WVU.
- 1. Cumulative GPA from all college transcripts must be a minimum of
2.0 on a 4.0 scale
- 2. Official transcripts from
all colleges/universities attended sent to WVU Admissions Office.
- 3. High school transcripts
and SAT or ACT scores sent to WVU Admissions Office.
- B. 29 or more transferable
credits, as determined by WVU.
- 1. Cumulative GPA must be a
minimum of 2.0.
- 2. Official transcripts from
all colleges/universities attended must be sent to WVU Admissions Office.

- Application Dates
- Students applying for the
fall semester should apply between September 15 (of the year prior to
entering) and August 1. Students
wishing to participate in pre-registration should apply before March 1. Students applying for the spring
semester should apply between September 1 and December 1.
- GENERAL TRANSFER INFORMATION
- No more than 72 credits may be accepted for transfer credit from 2-year
or community colleges.
- All students transferring from community colleges will be required to
complete the Liberal
- Studies Program (LSP) or General Education Curriculum (GEC) and any additional general
- requirements of the specific college.
- Only credits in which a grade of D or better are transferable for
college level courses. Grades
- do not transfer.
- Only official transcripts, ones sent directly to the WVU Admissions
Office from other colleges, will be
- recognized for transfer credit.
- WVU only recognizes credits earned at regionally accredited
institutions. Allegany College of
- Maryland is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges
and Schools.
- WVU will review transcripts and send students a course-by-course
evaluation at the time of admission.
- If you are transferring more than 58 credits, you must meet the
entrance requirements for the specific program you wish to enter.

catalog to obtain a complete list of courses required by each major or
refer to the WVU website.
- 2. Consult with your advisor,
the Student Success Center or Pennsylvania Student Services for course
transferability information or appropriate courses for a major. A partial list of transferable courses

- 3. Many departments require that
only courses in which a C grade or better may count toward satisfaction
of major requirements. Consult
the WVU academic catalog under the major requirements. A minimum of 2.0 average in the major
requirements is needed for graduation.

- *Electives must satisfy the University Liberal Studies Program (LSP) requirements
for students who began college prior to Fall 2005 or the General
Education Curriculum (GEC) for students who entered college Fall 2005 or
later. All of these requirements must be completed by the end of the
Spring semester preceding the Fall admission semester with the exception
of 3 credit hours of LSP elective only. This elective must then be
completed either in summer school preceding fall admission or
alternatively in the professional program.
- Testing Requirements:
- The Pharmacy College
Admissions Test (PCAT) is also required. The test is offered 3 times
during the year, and applicants are encouraged to take the test at the
fall administration of the exam. This will help to ensure that the
applicants’ scores are received in time for the admissions process.
- Community Service:
- As with all the caring
professions, community service, as well as extracurricular activities,
show that individuals are committed to the overall betterment of
society. The School of Pharmacy Admissions Committee will look at these
activities in addition to the above criteria.

- Application Process:
- Apply using PharmCAS
beginning June 15, 2006. Deadline for submission of PharmCAS
application is expected to be January 1, 2007. Supplemental
applications will be mailed after January 1 and will be due 30 days
after the application is mailed out. The application must be
accompanied by a non-refundable $50 application fee, check made payable
to WVU.
- Letters of Recommendation:
Only those applicants eligible for the supplemental application
are to submit letters of recommendation. Recommendation instructions
will be provided by the School of Pharmacy in the supplemental
application material. Three (3) academic letters of recommendation
are required for admission. Two (2) of these must be from
professors representing two (2) different sciences (math, biology,
chemistry and physics), and the remaining third letter can be obtained
from a professor of the applicant's choice.
- Personal Interview:
Applicants deemed eligible, by the Committee on Admissions, will
be scheduled for a personal interview. Interviews are held
February through April. Applicants are judged on the quality of
their answers and on their oral communication skills
- There were 464 applicants for Fall 2005 with a final class size of 80.
