Allegany College of Maryland FoundationsCommunity support has been a key factor in the success Allegany College of Maryland has enjoyed in providing high quality education and related services for over three decades. Considerable credit for this success is due to the efforts of the three Foundations that work for the betterment of their communities by garnering support for Allegany College of Maryland, based in Cumberland, and its branch campuses in Bedford and Somerset counties in Pennsylvania. All three organizations -- the Allegany College of Maryland Foundation, the Bedford County Regional Education Foundation and the Somerset County Campus Foundation for Allegany College of Maryland -- are non-profit entities incorporated under state and federal law. Their purpose is to encourage the growth, progress and general welfare of the college, especially through receipt of private tax-deductible gifts, bequests and donations, and to account for, manage and help appreciate those monies or properties. Each Foundation is composed of representatives of business, education, the professions and the general community who have demonstrated positive leadership and who have an expressed interest and desire in using their influence on behalf of the college. The three Foundations concentrate their efforts in areas of greatest need. The main-campus oriented Allegany College of Maryland Foundation focuses on scholarships for deserving students. At the much more recently begun Pennsylvania branch campuses, the Foundations have primarily been concerned with physical plant -- facilities, equipment and furnishings. |
