2008-2009 INFORMATION:
Registration for fall classes is now in progress. Be prepared to pay the $35 nonrefundable registration fee. Your financial aid will be deferred to the business office after your financial aid file has been verified and your award notification has been run. You will receive a financial aid notification of your awards in the mail.
Please be advised that your Student Financial Aid File must be complete before August 1 to ensure that you are awarded financial aid in time for you to charge your books against your financial aid. Files that are completed after August 1 will be awarded in the order in which they become complete. This includes requests for funds in the Stafford Loan Program.
If your financial aid and/or your loan request are not complete before August 1, you may be obligated to pay for your books yourself.
After the August 1 date, loan requests will be processed in the order they are received by the Student Financial Aid Office. Please remember that you must have a completed and verified financial aid file before your loan request form will be reviewed by the Student Loan Counselors.
Important Financial Aid Change for the 2008-2009 Academic Year
NEW FOR 2008-2009: Paper FAFSAs will no longer be distributed to schools. Students are encouraged to complete the FAFSA on the Web Worksheet (FOTW) to assist them in completing the on-line application (www.fafsa.ed.gov). The worksheet is available in the Student Financial Aid Office or in the high school guidance counselors’ offices.
Students who want to complete the paper FAFSA may call the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1-800-4-FED-AID to request the paper application or download a PDF paper FAFSA at www.FederalStudentAid.ed.gov. This PDF version can be completed on the computer and printed, or printed and completed by hand, and then mailed to the address provided.
Students will need their U.S. Department of Education Personal Identification Number (PIN) to complete the FAFSA on the Web. The PIN serves as the student signature for electronic documents. To apply for a PIN, students (and parents if the student is dependent for financial aid purposes) should go to the following website: www.pin.ed.gov.
If a student or parent has lost or forgotten the PIN, a duplicate PIN can be requested at www.pin.ed.gov by selecting the option “Request a Duplicate PIN.”
Students can begin applying for federal financial aid for the 2008-2009 award year starting January 1, 2008. To ensure consideration for all financial aid programs, the FAFSA should have been completed by February 15, 2008.
